Total payment is per article, yes, so it will work the way you need to. I would advise using that one instead of stopping counting visits after visit # ๐Ÿ™‚

As for your other request, since you marked the post as private, I’ll contact you by email.

Is it possible to put a limit on the amount that each article can earn? For example, if it earns $100 in 15 days, then that article cannot earn anymore.

Yes – have a look at the Total payment section in the Counting settings box of the Options page.

Also, how does the bonus system work? Iโ€™m offering a bonus of $100 to my writers if their article reaches 30,000 views in the 30 day time frame. Is that something I can automate, or must I do it manually?

There’s currently no way to automate bonus awarding. The PRO version allows you to manually award a (positive or negative) bonus to single posts through the apt box in the post edit page. Author Payment Bonus allows you to manually award a bonus to single authors at the moment of payout.

Thanks and love this product. Itโ€™s great so far.

That’s great to know, thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m available for any more info.

    Hi Jon,
I’ve checked and your license has been extended for another year correctly. However, since the plugin contacts the license server once in a while (should be 2 weeks), it can take some time for the expiration date to update on your end. This doesn’t create any issues though.

However, if you want to immediately see the updated information, you can deactivate your license with the Deactivate button in the License Status box and then activate it again with the same key. From red it should then turn to green ๐Ÿ™‚

    Sorry for the delay!

Is there a way to make a comment 5 times as valuable as a page view?

Yes, it involves some simple math. I’ll make a specific example.

Say this month earning is $200, and total pageviews is 4000 and total comments 50.

    What you need to do is divide $200 by (4000 + 50*5), so it’s $200/4250 = $0.047.
Then the incremental payment value for visits will be $0.047, while for comments $0.047 * 5 = 0.235.

You can verify this is correct by doing the reverse multiplications: visits amount to a total of $0.047 * 4000 = $188 and comments to a total of $0.235 * 50 = $11.75, and $188 + $11.75 = $299.75, which is correct if you take into account approximation errors ๐Ÿ™‚

Of course you can replace 5 with any other weight for comments.

    Hi Jonathon,
this is how the plugin stores/retrieves the PayPal meta user field:

    global $ppcp_global_settings;

    $author_paypal_email = get_user_option( $ppcp_global_settings['paypal_email'], $author );
    $update = update_user_option( $user->ID, $ppcp_global_settings['paypal_email'], $paypal_email );

    Yes, that’s correct ๐Ÿ™‚

However, note that doing that way will split the total revenue between authors only basing on page views. If you want to consider words and comments, as stated in your firs post, you will have to take care of that as well.

I’m available for any more help ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Liz,
    thanks for reporting.

That was indeed a bug, happening when a user had all payment criteria disabled in their custom settings, I guess this was your situation as well. I have fixed the issue and will release the fix later today ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Liz,
as for the error while posting replies here, it was an issue with the plugin that provides topic subscriptions to anonymous users. It should be fixed now. Thanks for reporting ๐Ÿ™‚

As for the PayPal issue, failure to resolve the host may be a temporary problem. Have you tried processing the payment again? If issues persist, make sure outbound connections are enabled on your server. (We will be moving to a faster, more robust and personalized server in a week, so timeout issues should be fixed then, although this doesn’t seem to be your problem).

    Does this help?

    Hi Travis,
what you need is not explicitly a feature. However, you may be able to achieve what you need (at least up to some point) following the directions from this tutorial and adapting it to your needs ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hope this helps!

Hi Lordo, it’s not clear what you’re looking for. If your aim is to only display stats in public pages while hiding payment and payment history features in the front end, then this is the default behavior with the shortcode. If your questions was different, please provide some more details ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Ezenwa,

For #5, please provide directions on how to delete payment history. Is it possible to only delete payments submitted for specific posts or must the entire payment history be deleted?

You can either delete a whole transaction (all histories of all authors paid in one batch), a single post payment history record or an author’s payment history record (history records for that author for all posts paid in that batch). More difficult to explain than to see and understand, I can assure you ๐Ÿ˜€

Make sure you have the correct permissions: either check Miscellanea -> Admins override all permissions or personalize your user settings through the Personalize settings box (then go to the Permissions box and tick all payment-history-related permissions).

Then go to the stats page and find the post you would like to delete a payment history record of. On the right you will find a link See payment history. Then, beside each record there is a red link to delete the record. ๐Ÿ™‚

For #6, I revised the short code to use simple quotes but the time_range attribute is still not working. Here is the revised short code: [ppc author="current" exclude="post_id, post_type, post_status, post_bonus, post_words, post_visits, post_images, post_comments" time_range="last_month"]. How do I include a screenshot on the forum?

Mmmm that’s strange! I’ve just trieod your exact same shortcode and it works for me! I’d suggest trying to add arguments one by one and see if they work alone: try just [ppc time_range="last_month"], does it work?

To attach a picture in the forum you actually need to host it somewhere (such as http://it.tinypic.com/) and then include the link in your post.

    Have a nice day,
    Stefano

    Hi Ezenwa,

    1. In the Options > PayPal Settings section, does the โ€œUse usersโ€™ email address for PayPalโ€ checkbox mean that the email address a user registers with will be used as their paypal address? So, if this checkbox is checked, then no need for the user to enter a value into the PayPal email address field on their profile?

Yes, that’s correct! However, if the checkbox is checked, the user can still provide a different email address through the apt field in his profile page. The login email will be used if the field is left blank.

    2. After submitting a test payment to PayPal, I noticed that the description of the payment is my name. Is there a way to change the description of the payment to something else?

    No, sorry.

    3. After submitting a test payment to PayPal, I noticed that the cancel link (i.e. โ€œcancel payment and return to Stefano Ottolenghiโ€) has your name. Is it possible to change your name to my website name instead?

    Again, no, sorry.

    4. After submitting a test payment to PayPal, how do I confirm the email address of the user before completing the transaction?

The email/name+surname of the user should be visible on the left at the moment of payment in the PayPal interface. Isn’t that so?

    5. Can I pay a user via paypal for a post more than once? For example, if there was a problem with the payment and I need to try sending the payment to the user again, is it possible to select the post and pay again?

Yes, as long as you delete the incomplete payment history record. Let me know if you need directions on this.

    6. The following attributes for the [ppc] short code are not working on my site: display_overall, time_range. Nothing happens when I add them to the short code. Here is how I tried to use them: [ppc author="current" exclude="post_id, post_type, post_status, post_bonus, post_words, post_visits, post_images, post_comments" display_overall=1 time_range=โ€last_monthโ€]

The issue for the time_range attribute is that the quotes you are using are “curly”, not simple ones. Try to write them again directly into WordPress and see if it works. For the display_overall, can you post a screenshot?

Also, I’ve trashed your other topic since it was just the same as this but lacked one question ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a nice day,
    Stefano
