    Hi,

I’m having trouble reconciling the PostPay data to the analytics data due to a problem counting re-posts. So as an example, last month a post had approximately 4,000 unique page views. On the first day of this month (jan 1, 2021) the same story was posted again (as a new story with same post title). Analytics properly captures the unique views on this ‘new’ post (around 80). But PostPay is showing the number from last month’s post of 4,000 for this new post. How can I fix this? Thanks

    Hi Saj,
what does it mean “re-posted”? Is the post ID the same? In that case, the plugin has no way to distinguish the new story, since it uses the ID (which is supposed to be unique) to keep track of posts.

    Hope this helps!
    A nice day,
    Stefano

    Hi Stefano,

Thank you for your reply. The post ID is different. Basically we are running a “new” story as a completely new post, but its the same title and content. Analytics handles it properly.

Was the new story creates by duplicating the previous one?

Right, we’ve seen it happening with payments, but visits are the same. Since duplicating a post usually copies post metas over, you need to an exception for all PCC related stuff (or disable postmeta copying altogether). The meta name in this case is _ppcp_ga_data 🙂

I guess through the settings of the plugin you use to duplicate posts 🙂

Ok, i’m using the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin. So I just pasted ‘_ppcp_ga_data’ in the ‘Do not copy these fields’ box. Is that what you mean?

Yes, that should work! Test it out and let me know! 🙂
