Hi,
I pay my writers by pageviews their stories receive. As many of my writers have multiple stories posted per month and broken down into different pages, it’s difficult to add all their pageviews up at the end of each month – hence why I purchased the license key for your great app π Rather than it displaying visits, can I change this to display ‘pageviews’ instead? This is the reason I purchased the PRO version.
Thanks kindly in advance in helping me set this up.
JPApril 16, 2017 at 8:02 pm #55779JPGuestTo add, as many writers will be paid on how many pageviews their articles receive each month, even on articles written in previous months, will the monthly view capture the total pageviews for all of their pieces (past and new) per month in the stats view?
Just to clarify, I won’t be using your app to display how much I owe the authors or to work out payments, as I will calculate this all separately (I pay my writers 70% of the total revenue their articles bring in per month. Each month this will change depending on what the RPM was for that month). In truth, I am using your app really only to help me calculate the total pageviews per author per month, to save me from having to do that painstaking task each month through google analytics.
Will your app be able to help me with all this?
I hope all of this makes sense π Thanks in advance.
April 17, 2017 at 7:44 am #55788StefanoKeymasterHi JP,
I am currently on holiday for Easter. Is this an urgent matter or can I ask you to wait until tomorrow? π
Thanks and have a nice day,
StefanoApril 17, 2017 at 3:07 pm #55791JPGuestHi Stefano, of course, this can wait until tomorrow. As I pay authors on 70% of what their articles (past and new) bring in per month, I need the monthly stats to show all of the article stats by author, not just the articles that were written that month. Currently, it only shows stats for the articles that were written that month. Can this be fixed? Or something included in a new release of the plugin?
April 18, 2017 at 8:40 am #55794StefanoKeymasterHi JP,
thanks for your patience, I appreciate that! πRather than it displaying visits, can I change this to display βpageviewsβ instead?
Is it just a matter of what label is displayed in the stats page, there’s currently no way to change that. However, Visits is just a column label, but usually it’s pageviews that are displayed in it. For example, if you are using Google Analytics to track pageviews with the plugin, then you can choose between Pageviews and Unique pageviews (see the Analytics Settings box in the Options page), and that is will be displayed in the Visits column.
To add, as many writers will be paid on how many pageviews their articles receive each month, even on articles written in previous months, will the monthly view capture the total pageviews for all of their pieces (past and new) per month in the stats view?
It will – with a bit of care. See this tutorial on how to set up a payment flow for lifetime visits.
In truth, I am using your app really only to help me calculate the total pageviews per author per month, to save me from having to do that painstaking task each month through google analytics.
That’s okay – as long as the plugin is saving you time and frustration, I am happy with it! Maybe in the future, when you will be familiar with the plugin, you will even use it’s payment features, who knows! π
I need the monthly stats to show all of the article stats by author, not just the articles that were written that month. Currently, it only shows stats for the articles that were written that month.
Select a larger stats time range. See above the link to the lifetime visits setup tutorial.
I hope all this helps! Don’t hesitate to ask for more clarification wherever needed! π
Have a nice day,
StefanoApril 18, 2017 at 10:05 pm #55814JPGuestThank you for the response. I’ve gone through your tutorials. This seems a lot of steps just to see how many pageviews each author has brought in each month. Is there a way I can just choose a month range and see all of the pageviews their stories (past and present) brought in without having to go through the steps of marking them as paid?
April 19, 2017 at 8:37 am #55816StefanoKeymasterIf you only need to see lifetime visits for all posts, without wanting to know how much you owe each author every month, you just have to pick a large time range. If you select All time, you will get posts published throughout all dates.
It is important to notice that the time range affects only the posts that are displayed, not the visits. All visits you see are already cumulative (past and present).
Hope this helps! π
Have a nice day,
StefanoApril 19, 2017 at 9:08 pm #55829JPGuestI understand what you’re saying, but it’s not lifetime views I’m interested in, it’s monthly. When I pull up monthly views with your plugin, it only shows pageviews for the articles written that month, not pageviews of the total articles my writers have written. Let’s say one of my writers wrote an article in May 2016, July 2016, December 2016 and February 2017 and all the articles in total pulled recieved 13500 pageviews in the month of April 2017. I pay my writer for this. This is the information I want to see in your app in the monthly view as this is the information I need to pay my writers. Is there a way to have ALL of my writer’s articles included in the monthly view without having to go through many steps each month?
Please advise. If this is not possible, can I kindly request a refund? I was misled by the photos included in the desription and was lead to believe your app’s Pro version would do this.
Thank you in advance
April 19, 2017 at 9:57 pm #55836StefanoKeymasterI believe we are talking about the same thing, but we are giving it different names π
Letβs say one of my writers wrote an article in May 2016, July 2016, December 2016 and February 2017 and all the articles in total pulled recieved 13500 pageviews in the month of April 2017. I pay my writer for this. This is the information I want to see in your app in the monthly view as this is the information I need to pay my writers.
You can do that. However, you have to change your perspective. From I understand, you would like to select a time range (say, April 2017), and get total pageviews for posts written by a certain author. There is no explicit feature in the plugin that will allow you to do so, because it would need such an amount of server resources, that the page would load in tens of seconds. The only viable way is to filter by post publication time, and this is what Post Pay Counter can do.
Is there a way to have ALL of my writerβs articles included in the monthly view without having to go through many steps each month?
Yes – as explained in the tutorial. I realize it may seem like a lot of steps to go through every month, but they are not, believe me. The tutorial is thorough because the plugin handles your money, and I want to provide administrators with as much information as they may need when it comes to using the plugin and managing their money with it. But really, the mark as paid routine is just this:
- At the end of the month, go to the general stats page (where all authors are listed) and tick the Pay checkbox in the table header. Then scroll to the bottom and click on the Mark authors as paid button. Then scroll to the bottom of the Confirm Payment page and click on the confirm button.
- You are done. It’s really just 3 clicks.
I’d encourage you to experiment and play around with the plugin, and see how it can help you automate and improve your payments management π
If this is not possible, can I kindly request a refund?
You can obviously ask as much clarification and help as you wish, but if you still aren’t convinced with how the plugin works, of course you can get a 100% refund with no problems! π
April 22, 2017 at 1:43 am #55866JPGuestApologies for the delayed response. When I go to click the pay tick boxes alongside my authors’ names for the previous month, they are grayed out for each of my authors. When I attempt to select all in the header and then select pay, I get the following message: “You must select at least one item.”
Here’s a screen capture of what I mean
Any idea why it may be doing this?

April 22, 2017 at 6:48 am #55870StefanoKeymasterThe Pay field is usually grayed out when the Due payment amount is zero. Is this the case? π
