Is there a way to reset stats?

I’ve been trying to reset stats so that the counter using unique pageviews instead of all pageviews and I keep changing the days for update Google Analytics data and it seems to keep increasing the number of views instead of decreasing them.

For example, I’ll change the day to do last 7 days or something like that and a posts views will be 1,000 then after the change it’ll jump to 3,000. I’ll update again and it’ll be 5,000 when I know that the post did not receive that many views.

I have a post in the stats that say that it’s been viewed 3,661 times when the total pageview count is 1,274 and unique is 545.

I’m really at a loss here because I’m trying to pay my writers but don’t want to overpay.

    Thanks!

I even revoked access but the views are still counting. Was hoping that everything would go back to 0.

    Hi Brenner,
Mmmm, both actions should clear past data… Any errors in the error log? What version are you running? Maybe could I have a temp admin account so I can personally look into this?

    Have a nice day,
    Stefano

    Yeah,

I’ve done this before without any problem so I don’t know why the stats won’t reset now.

    There’s no errors in logs.

    I’m using PRO version: 1.5.8.8

I can set you up with an Admin account.

What email address should I use to send you your password.

    Your username will be “thecrowned”.

Check your spam folder if you haven’t received the reset link.

Okay, I’m quite confused. Apparently, visits data is still in the database (I can read it) but cannot be deleted nor changed. So I’m quite sure this must have something to do with your own unique server configuration. Have you ever been able to erase visits data? I mean, did it stopped working or it just never worked? My only advice is to make sure nothing can be conflicting with plugins interacting with the MySQL database… Do you have any clue?

I have no clue as I have done this before in resetting stats.

    It just stopped working.

Do you know how to find out if plugin is conflicting?

I just deactivated all my plugins except yours and it still doesn’t do anything.

I’m now going through and deleting plugins and trying to delete yours and start over and I’m getting this error message now:

Warning: scandir(temp/ga): failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /home/wp_zf5swj/theurbantwist.com/wp-content/plugins/post-pay-counter-pro/classes/ppcp_google_analytics_class.php on line 554

Warning: scandir(): (errno 2): No such file or directory in /home/wp_zf5swj/theurbantwist.com/wp-content/plugins/post-pay-counter-pro/classes/ppcp_google_analytics_class.php on line 554

Fatal error: Call to undefined method PPCP_license::license_deactivate() in /home/wp_zf5swj/theurbantwist.com/wp-content/plugins/post-pay-counter-pro/uninstall.php on line 86

Maybe these error messages is the reason why things won’t update.

    Here’s a new one:

I literally deleted every plugin one by one and they deleted fine. But with yours I can’t delete. This is strange indeed.

I just restored my backup files now.

I hate to keep bugging you but is there a way to go back a version with the Pro Plugin?

I think that could’ve caused the problem as I just recently updated it to new version somewhat recently and like I said before, what I’m trying to do now has been done before countless times without problems.

    Hi Brennen,
sorry for the delay, I was unfortunately out.

I tried again and no, no way I can delete the data… Do you have access to PHPMyAdmin? Can you run this query for me? It should clear data – although it looks like it has no effect when I run in from WP… It works if I delete just one record, but not the bulk of them. I’ve just tried with my own setup, and it works fine, so it’s really strange!

    DELETE FROM 'wp_postmeta' WHERE meta_key = '_ppcp_ga_visits'

    Let me know!

I just tried that and it keeps giving me error

#1054 – Unknown column ‘_ppcp_ga_visits’ in ‘where clause’

    It’s really strange.

That query didn’t work but I was able to go through and manually delete the columns based off what you said and now all the articles have zero visits.

I just updated the days for the plugin to count visits from. Waiting to see if that’s going to work or not. It may take a couple of hours. I went back 800 days.

    I think it’s working now. 🙂

The numbers are back and looks close enough to what GA is generating.

I’m resetting the stats again just to see if it works this time without me having to clear database through MyPHP admin.
