I opened another topic about excluding shortcodes and the addon.

After that, I discovered that ppc_exclude_words is supposed to exclude a div area from the word count. However, it does not seem to be working.

I turned off the limits for word counting and turned off the cache so I could see if anything changed, and tried adding the ppc_exclude-words to the div class of the container, but the word count remained the same — or in one case, it actually increased!

So I’m still looking for a way to exclude specific blocks from the word count — things like table of contents blocks, feedback shortcodes, etc that should not be counted.

    Thanks

    Hi Cheryl,
can you share a snippet example of a post content you tried but which didn’t work as expected?

    Thanks,
    Stefano

    Well,

I’m trying to apply it to a Rank Math TOC block. Here’s one way I tried:

    <div class=”wp-block-rank-math-toc-block ppc_exclude_words” id=”rank-math-toc”><nav>

      <li class=””>Garmin Varia RCT715 Areas Rated
      <li class=””>Reliability<li class=””>Price<li class=””>Ease of Use and Installation<li class=””>Improves Safety?<li class=””>Garmin Varia RCT715 compatibility with different devices and apps.
      <li class=””>Garmin Varia app<li class=””>Garmin Edge Cycling Computer<li class=””>Ride With GPS<li class=””>Cadence<li class=””>Does my Wahoo bike computer work with the Garmin Varia RCT715 ?

    <li class=””>Battery Life<li class=””>Tail Light<li class=””>Weight<li class=””>“Additional Features”: The Camera<li class=””>Summary<li class=””>Bike Radar Poll</nav></div>

And the other way was by sticking that block inside a container with ppc_exclude_words as the div class for the container. Neither seemed to work — that is the word count did not decrease and I had caching turned off. Hard to tell, maybe I’ll try it with the next post I publish and see what happens.

    Thanks

Looking at the code I can now see that it expects the div to only have the ppc_exclude_words class and no others. Can you confirm that changing the div to <div class="ppc_exclude_words" id="rank-math-toc"> works (even if it will break formatting)?

I know it will as I have some css formattting on that. But if I surrounded that with just another container with <div class=”ppc_exclude_words”>All that other stuff here.</div> Shouldn’t that work? I’ve tried that. I’m going to work on this more tomorrow.

Yes, I would expect that work. If it doesn’t please let me know!
