Can you add a setting that gives the admin a way to choose how frequently he wants PPC to automatically pull analytics data? I’m thinking of tweaking the code myself until an update takes care of that. Is there any reason I shouldn’t do that? And would it be smart to make PPC Pro pull analytics data every hour?
Yes, I already planned to add that but I have been busy with other Analytics issues.
It’s always better to avoid editing plugin’s code directly, also because the update routines of future releases may find unexpected data/behaviour and may get stuck. Anyway, you can tweak the scheduled event using WP Crontrol, the event is called ppcp_cron_ga_daily_update until the native feature won’t be available.
Analytics requests are probably the heaviest thing the plugin does. The request in itself usually takes around a whole second, and then the plugin has to go through all the returned rows and update each post meta. If you have a big database, I would argue that daily update provides the best performance with a reasonable lag, but you are absolutely free to experiment with different frequencies and see what suits you best.
