I really love the plugin and have been using it for many years with very few issues. This is a feature request that we have needed since the beginning but I never thought to request it. Our blog has many authors but also has a few editors who receive compensation for the articles and also a pre-agreed monthly amount for all the other work that they do like editing posts or social media work etc. I use the paypal feature to pay our writers but for the editors I’m having to add their basic payments to their article totals then I pay them manually.
What I would like to see is a way to add a basic payment/bonus which would be added to the writers’ earnings per post once a month. I’m assuming this could be added into individuals personlized settings.
September 5, 2016 at 9:00 pm #51922StefanoKeymasterHi Alma,
thanks for your suggestion. The ability to set a basic payment for users (the same way it is already possible with posts) is something that has been sitting at the back of my mind for a long time. I’ve never made an addon out of it cause I didn’t think enough people would be interested in it. However, the new Author Payment Bonus addon allows you to assign authors a bonus just before paying, in the Confirm Payment page. Does this help achieve what you need? ๐

Thanks for your quick response. The bonus addon would only solve only part of the problem. We have a little payments stats area for our contributors
But the addon wouldn’t show their guaranteed basic/bonus until payday I’m assuming?September 7, 2016 at 8:05 am #51938StefanoKeymasterBut the addon wouldnโt show their guaranteed basic/bonus until payday Iโm assuming?
That’s correct. If the Author Basic Payment was an addon of its own (which of course integrates seamlessly into PPC and PRO), would you buy it? ๐
September 7, 2016 at 6:37 pm #51942AlmaGuestAbsolutely! In a heartbeat ๐
September 7, 2016 at 6:41 pm #51944StefanoKeymasterGreat, I’ll take your word for it and will let you know as soon as it is released! ๐
September 17, 2016 at 2:54 pm #52221StefanoKeymasterHi Alma,
I was working on this, and then I thought I would appreciate your feedback on how you expect it to work. Specifically, how/when do you expect the addon to award the author basic payment? Would once-per-payment be fine? ๐September 17, 2016 at 7:55 pm #52226AlmaGuestI was actually thinking of a perhaps an extra option that appears below basic payment in the counting settings on the plugin that allows me to add a basic payment- not per post as it is currently but once per month if you know what I mean.
I could then go into the individual users’ settings for instance our editor and our social editor and add her basic payment there which would then be computed to her total pay including posts at the end of the month. Hope you understand what I mean ๐

Everything else was clear, it’s the once per month part what is tricky. I guess some people pay at the end of the month, but some other people may pay as soon as an author reaches the threshold, or once every two weeks, or whatever. The plugin may provide two options: once per payment (i.e. every time you pay an author, a fixed fee is added) and enter how often you want the bonus to be awarded (in days). Would that be good to you?
September 19, 2016 at 1:13 am #52240AlmaGuestI don’t think a number in days would actually work to be honest. For instance if I decided to go with 30 days, and we were in a month like January with 31 days, it would award a bonus at the beginning of the month and a second bonus on the 31st before I make the payout on 1 February….
September 20, 2016 at 12:17 pm #52251StefanoKeymasterAnd wouldn’t the once per payment option work? Do you pay your authors multiple times a month? Because if that’s not the case, it looks to me like it would work! ๐
September 20, 2016 at 5:05 pm #52255AlmaGuestNo we only pay them once a calendar month. What is really important is for the author to also see the total amount due to them each month in the stats page and of course to be able to include this in the PayPal payments total.

Yes that will happen ๐

StefanoOctober 3, 2016 at 11:45 pm #52460AlmaGuestHi Stefano,
Thanks for being so quick with the add on. I have purchased and installed it on my site. However I’m having an issue. So in the main options page I have set up Author basic payment as 0 because it’s only our editors that I want to award a basic payment to. Screenshot here
Then for 3 particular editors’s settings I have set up their own different basic payments. Example in the image here
But in the stats page every author is awarded the same basic payment, even non editors! Image here
Is there a setting that I missing somewhere?
